Tadelakt installation instructions

MATERIALS & TOOLS:

- Lime of Marrakech (out of powder)
- Natural Pigments and dyes
- Soft soap of Morocco
- Natural white Wax
- Water
- Concrete-mixer or electric mixer
- Trowel
- Platoir
- Fine Spatula for smoothing
- Large round brush for damping of the support
- Plastic to tighten
- Roller cut into two and polished

PREPARATION OF THE MIXTURE:

- Mix the lime of Marrakech with water until obtaining a very flexible homogeneous paste.
- Let rest with the air between 1 and 2 days before adding the pigments of colors.
The pigments add load to your mixture. We advise you not to exceed a maximum of 20% compared to the total mixture. - Preparation from 5 to 6 liters with the M ² for a thickness of coating of 6 with 7mm.

APPLICATION

- Clean with a vaccum cleaner
- Wet the support Well
- Lay the mixture with platoir in fine layer and then, reload before it does not dry at a rate of 5 with 6mm. - As soon as the coating does not mark any more with the finger, to tighten with your plastic tool. One does not need any deposit on the plastic during this operation. This moment is impossible to determine precisely in time, the carbonation of lime being dependent on the ambient rate of hydrometry, of the moisture of the wall and the quantity of water in the coating. The experiment, the comprehension of the matter and the observation will define the moment.
- The plastic tool allows working of the elements of decoration. It is necessary that it is always well sandpapered in order not to stripe the tadelakt. The hand and the fingers remain still the best tool for the round-offs. To put on gloves out of latex to avoid the marks of the skin.
- As soon as the coating is hard without to be dry, to pass the roller with water mixed with the soft soap: a soap hazel nut in water glass. To pass this mixture to the brush then to carry out rotations with the roller posed flat on the coating, by exerting an increasingly strong pressure. ATTENTION, the coating is not hard everywhere in the same way: to pass by again the plastic then, then the roller, then plastic. until the coating becomes impermeable with water.

MAINTENANCE

Though relatively solid, the tadelakt remains a decorative coating in covering. There continues its mechanical resistance for one month, but remains fragile like a coating. The tadelakt discusses only with the soft soap which nourish it and the fact of shining. The tadelakt can be waxed for a better sealing. It is then necessary to wait 3 weeks before applying the wax which gives a brightness uniform, less beautiful than an only polished tadelakt with the soft soap but even tighter for the showers and the basins.
